God has a way of putting us where we need to be at the right times. Last night I stole a few hours away from my family to visit a Durham, NC Barnes & Noble book store. I took my time browsing the biography/memoir section looking for inspiration. I bought a couple of books and a white chocolate mocha from the Starbucks counter. I sat in one of the easy chairs and settled into one of my books. Before long I felt restless and I stood up to stretch. There were several people inside the store but two ladies caught my attention. The Holy Spirit led me over to them. One of the ladies was on the phone, and the other was powering up her laptop.
“Excuse me,” I said nervously. “I’m not selling anything, but I’m writing a book and I would like to ask you if you mind reading my blog. My friends have read it and they all say the beginning of my book is great. However, I would like someone who doesn’t know me to read it and critique it who will have an unbiased opinion.”
She looked at me over her glasses and asked me who I was and what made me approach her with such a request. The truth is, I didn’t know. I rambled and fumbled trying to find the right words to answer her question. I told her that she looked like a natural part of my audience: a woman who has lived life, learned from life’s experiences, and who has hurt in her lifetime.
She listened attentively and asked, “Do you know who I am and what I do?”
“No.” I said quietly.
“I’m Dr. Gail McClain Hayes. I’m a writing coach. I help people write books and get published!”
I was astonished! She has traveled far and wide giving seminars and conferences on women’s empowerment and book-writing. There I was talking to a celebrity about my little old book. I don’t know what the odds are that I will encounter someone like Dr. Hayes again, but I do know that last night’s encounter was orchestrated by God!
I am in awe and yet I know that God makes no mistakes. You have the gift. Embrace it, girl, and let Him order your next steps. I’m so proud of you!

Didn’t I tell you that you were on your way?!?
I’m just gonna sit and wait for this whole marvelous thing, (that God has predestined, by the way), to unfold.
It will be nothing short of magnificient. Persevere,

I especially liked “Divine Intervention”. It flowed. I especially liked your use of suspense- your walking up to her- not understanding why- captivated me. Also your use of the Holy Spirit let me know this is a spiritual writing.

I told her the same thing Willie.

I think your writing gets better with each blog, Joan. Do know that nothing happens haphazardly. It is truly ordained by God. As I sit and read, I smile, because I see all of the pieces falling in line that will make this book a success. You know my take on this encounter already. So all that is left to say is, to God be the glory, for the things He has done.
